Mrs. Jewell is a civil litigator, representing plaintiffs and defending design professionals, Realtors, and contractors in real estate, earth movement, and construction defect disputes. She also analyzes insurance policies and represents policy holders in disputes with insurance carriers.

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969, with majors in English and Spanish, Mrs. Jewell studied towards a Masters Degree in Education and obtained a Provisional Secondary School Teaching Credential. In 1972, she relocated to Los Angeles and began work as a paralegal counselor at the first private legal clinic in the state. In 1981, she graduated from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and was admitted to practice law.

Mrs. Jewell is a member of the Rotary Club of Danville. From 1989 to 2002 she served as a Director of the Discovery Counseling Center of the San Ramon Valley, Inc., a local non-profit mental health and crisis intervention center. She volunteers as an EASE Mediator and SMARTER Mediator for the court system. On several occasions, Mrs. Jewell has presented programs on insurance coverage issues for the local bar association. She also serves on the Food From the Bar Committee for the Contra Costa County Bar Association that organizes an annual food drive for the Contra Costa-Solano Food Bank. She is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, California State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and California Women Lawyers.

Mrs. Jewell resides in Benicia with her husband Jim. She is an active member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Benicia, and has served as Senior Warden, Vestry Member, Finance Committee Chair, and Lay Eucharistic Minister. She enjoys singing in the choir and working with teens in outreach projects which help the larger community.
