Since joining the Firm in 1974, Mr. McCoy's practice has emphasized commercial transactions, formation of business entities, real estate matters, and education law issues. He is also involved in general business and corporate matters including contracts, partnerships, limited liability companies, and sole proprietorships, as well as financial matters.

Mr. McCoy is a member of the American Bar Association Section on Corporation, Banking, and Business Law. He was selected by the Contra Costa Bar Association to serve as its representative on the Board of Directors of the East Bay Community Foundation in 1978.

From 1974 to 1980, Mr. McCoy served as a Naval Officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps at Newport, Rhode Island, and Treasure Island, California.

Mr. McCoy was elected to the Board of Education for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District in 1977 and re-elected in 1981. He served as the President of the Board of Education in 1980 and 1983. He currently serves as the President of Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation and as Chairperson of the Governing Board of the San Ramon Regional Medical Center.
